GSAT satellites are exactly this communication infrastructure, India's dedicated fleet of geosynchronous satellites relaying television, telecommunications and data signals across the country.

These satellites occupy the geosynchronous orbit covered elsewhere on this site specifically because that fixed position relative to Earth's surface is what makes reliable, continuous broadcast and communication service possible, a ground-based satellite dish, once pointed at a specific GSAT satellite's position, never needs to be readjusted, since the satellite never appears to move from that fixed point in the sky.
