Digital Sky

The single website that replaced a mountain of drone paperwork

Picture applying for a driving licence entirely online, uploading your documents, getting your test scheduled, and receiving your licence digitally, without ever visiting a government office in person. Digital Sky is that same experience built specifically for drone operators in India.

Digital Sky is the online platform through which drone owners register their aircraft, pilots obtain and verify their remote pilot certificates, and operators apply for the specific permissions needed for higher risk flights such as BVLOS operations, all managed digitally under the Drone Rules, 2021. It also hosts the airspace map that shows operators exactly which zones are open for free flight and which require specific clearance before takeoff.

Digital Sky is effectively the administrative backbone that made India's lighter touch 2021 drone regulation actually workable in practice, since a liberalised rulebook is only useful if the approval process behind it is fast and accessible enough for a small operator, not just a large defence contractor, to actually use.
